A carved wooden spoon, sanded, oiled, and food-safe, plus a tin of finishing balm to keep it in good shape for years of kitchen use.

What you'll learn

  • ·Knife grip and cutting direction: how to move through wood safely and with confidence.
  • ·How to sharpen your own edge on a leather strop.
  • ·How to rough-shape a spoon from a blank using a straight knife.
  • ·How to hollow the bowl with a hook knife.
  • ·How to sand, finish, and oil to a kitchen-ready result.

What's included

  • A kiln-dried basswood blank, sized for a finished spoon
  • Professional straight (sloyd) knife and hook knife
  • A leather strop and honing compound at a dedicated sharpening station
  • A cut-resistant glove for your guiding hand
  • A small tin of house-made finishing balm, beeswax and food-safe oil, to re-oil your spoon at home
